This Really is Great Looking - Very Rare and Unusual American Rustic Folk Art Fly Fishing Creel Basket. Large Size & Scale. Circa Late 19th Century. It is Completely Hand Made From Scratch Out of Indigenous Materials. The Hand Woven Basket is Made Out of Heavy Gauge Wicker. The Internal Frame "Skeleton" is Constructed Out of a Series of Multiple Steam Bent Oak Ribs. The Back Corner Posts as well as The Top Hinge Mounts are Made Out of Various Hardwoods. It has a Wide Leather Shoulder Strap - Belt with Buckle. The Varnished Exterior Appears to be Original and it has Developed a Wonderful Natural Use - Aged Color and Patina that Cannot be Duplicated. It is in Very Nice Overall Condition - Displays Beautifully. Imperfections Noted - There Is a Bit of Basket Loss - Holes in the Bottom Interior Area and These Can best be Seen in The Last Photograph in my Listing ( Not Noticeable as Displayed ). The Leather Belt is a Bit Stiff but still Strong and Well Secured. The Small Leather Lid "Clasp" on the Front is Dry and Shrunken a Bit in Length so it is Not Functional - Slot will Not Reach the Steel Eyelet Ring. I Purchased this Piece on One of my Recent Picking Adventures in The Lancaster Pennsylvania Area. The Creel Basket Itself Measures Overall Approx. 9 inches Tall x 15 inches Long x 9 inches Wide.
